On Human Rights Day #YoungTogether reached 650.000 people on twitter

Youth Changing the Narrative about Migration and Human Rights in Europe

On the 10th of December, Human Rights Day, a storm with the hashtag #YoungTogether has taken over twitter, reaching more than 650,000 people in one day.

Hundreds of young people and youth organizations throughout Europe, and six national agencies of the Erasmus+ program in (Austria, Finland, Italy, Macedonia, Estonia, and Slovenia) have come together to tell a clear message on Human Rights Day; young people, locals, migrants and refugees, are standing up for human rights and against hate. They share a vision of a colourful, equal and inclusive Europe for all.

The national agencies have organized simultaneous national events in their countries that brought together around 200 young people, who were joined online by their peers from around Europe.

These efforts are part of a bigger European campaign under the name “Aware And Active” which aims to create a new narrative about the refugee situation and the local response in Europe, by mainstreaming youth actions for diversity and inclusion to the wider public.

POYWE is impressed of what a creative group of young people can do in a short time – and happy to be part of this project as an associated partner from the very beginning.
